I had a good job here, working for my man, Dennis, running our home, educating our children, coordinating our medical care and societal obligations, and volunteering in our community. As that position does not pay well, nor does it offer a benefit package, I have, for the first time in thirteen years, taken a job outside of the home.
Yes, Des got a job.
I could tell you all about it, and my anxiety about entering the workforce, but I'll save those stories for the book.
Suffice it to say if I was behind on the laundry before...
Tomorrow I am not scheduled to work until 6 p.m., and the children are home from school. Needless to say, I will spend the day teaching them how to do their own laundry.
As I leave for work in the morning before the children wake up, Dennis and the kids have revamped the morning routine so that they are now responsible for making lunches. Dennis has had to take on the job of taking the kids to their schools and he is now the primary contact with school. We are all adjusting and I am proud of them for stepping up to the plate. Dennis even gets up insanely early to make my coffee, fill my thermos and pack my lunch. My dear husband is very good at these tasks and as always is very supportive of me. He knows exactly how to make a ham and cheese sandwich so that it has the appropriate carbohydrate to protein ration to maintain my blood sugar stability and he cuts it just right so I can nibble on it at my desk.
My daughter has been very sweet and thinks my job is cool. My son has already forgotten who I am.
So if you were wondering why I didn't get the recipe for Joe Biden Beef Stew up on the blog yet, now you know. I took lovely pictures of it during the preparation, so that post is coming any day now.
Stay tuned for more exciting news reports from the Mermaid Cafe, like the upcoming, "Des Back To College!" and "Woodstock Working Mother Fitted For Straight Jacket!"
Yes, you read that right.
I have gone to work and I am going back to college.
Yes I Can!

Congrats! I know how it is since I too still work at home with Bill balancing the business, being a travel agent and mother and let's not forget the PTA oh and Class Chair. I wish you all the good fortune there is to being outside the home.
Love to all and have a happy Thanksgiving!

Suzie

Dear Comrade,
I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you.
The moon is in the seventh house and the chicken barks at dawn.
