Tonight, in an effort to get in touch with his inner lesbian, Dennis took me to an Indigo Girls concert. Dennis is full of surprises. He has been threatening lately that he is going to come out (as a Republican) but I think his Republican machismo is really just a cover up. He is compensaing for his soft side, the side that likes alternative folk music - the side that enjoys being in a crowd where there is one man for every 25 women.
In any event, to those of you who read yesterday's post and my use of the word betrayal, and wondered if perhaps my husband has had an affair, I would like to reassure you that there has been nothing of the sort. The man has not cheated on me, unless you count his occasional late night viewings of The L Word on Showtime, viewings I consider harmless. In fact, Dennis remains my most loyal and loving support. When I decided to multiply my life by the power of two, I am glad Dennis was the other factor in the equation.
It was nice to go out with my husband tonight. We actually had a sitter, something that happens only once a year. The concert was wonderful. The sound was great and let me tell you, the energy they put out was insane. My wrists hurt from sympathetic repetitive motion injury just watching them on the guitars. Their harmonies gave me wonderful chills and it was a gift just to hear them.
The concert was a good mid-week break before the all out Thursday/Friday manic cleaning session that needs to happen around here. Tomorrow night we get to enjoy Open House at Harrison's school and Curriculum Night at Eden's school. They occur at the same time, so Dennis gets the fun gig at the hippie Day school and I get to see Harrison's desk up close and personal. I may even get to peek inside his mysterious locker and leave him some kind of surprise.
The weekend ahead is jam packed for me, with my cousin's Ladies' Weekend happening Saturday (with a field trip to see Mama Mia), Eden's Religious Education class Coming of Age Activities at the congregation on Sunday morning, and most exciting of all Bellydancing For Obama during the Sunday afternoon drum circle (aka The Freak Show) on the Woodstock Village Green. I Love Woodstock.
Dennis is less than thrilled about Bellydancing for Obama.
He has threatened to boycott it by line dancing for McCain.
All I can say is, it's going to be an awfully damned short line.
